Head Coach Declan Williams

Declan Williams is a goalkeeper coach, academy coach and elite football performance science degree holder who set up Creative Keepers at the beginning of 2017 in Chorley, England with the intention to improve the quality and availability of goalkeeper training in the UK. Declan set up Creative Keepers with the philosophy that the player is first and not the accolades of the coach, often you find organisations which promote their coaches and the level of play they attained, It’s Declan’s mission to provide goalkeeper training to all without the overlooking figure of a coach who has played across multiple stages casting an eye over you. Just someone who has played grassroots and amateur football, learned the trade and can deliver high quality football sessions which are fun, safe and enjoyable.

Declan to this date, 2020, has successfully promoted numerous goalkeepers to academies such as Manchester City, Burnley, Manchester United, Fleetwood, Bolton Wanderers and many more. Declan is a higher education practitioner so has a strong understanding of pedagogy and development. The curriculum he developed at Creative Keepers in the Chorley, Blackburn, and surrounding areas to develop in their own time and progress into academies if they so wish.

Declan has worked across many clubs with different coaches from outfielders to goalkeepers. Throughout his 10-year journey he has learned that goalkeeper is unique and everyone no matter the ability stands a chance of developing into a strong goalkeeper if they apply themselves properly.

Coach Ali Hassan Hussain has been with Creative Keepers since it’s inception and has been developing goalkeepers for over 5 years. Coach Hass runs our Blackburn Goalkeeper centre we run in co-operation with Mill Hill Juniors FC and provides goalkeeper training for children ages 6-16.

He has a wealth of experience working with sporting children within local communities. He has been playing in goal from a young age and has a great passion for goalkeeping. He played for Blackburn Rovers on a 2-year Scholarship which he developed some of skills. During his time as a Blackburn Rovers Scholar he played for their 1st Team in the North West League 1, winning the league and reaching the semi-finals of the Futsal National Finals in my second year. He got invited to an England Development Camp and was competing with the most promising goalkeepers in England Futsal U19’s development squad. He has since completed a degree in Community Football Coaching and Development and coaches full-time football. He also coach goalkeepers at two grassroots clubs and have been for over a year now.

Coach Ali understands, through his experience and his degree how to develop and bring players forward in their sporting journeys by providing them with environments of safety, equality, differentiation, and development. His personal mission is to make a change to someone’s life by providing that positive impact and helping develop them into the player they want to be. Apprenticeship programme

Goalkeeper coaching is such a niche and requires years of experience, knowledge, and Qualifications to deliver. Often at Creative Keepers we find our goalkeepers wanting to complete Duke Of Edinburgh awards or just want to gain voluntary experience for work. We provide availability in our Goalkeeper training schools in Chorley or Blackburn, England for our students to progress into the coaching side if they wish. Since we started this programme we have three apprentices in our Chorley centre who are learning how to coach and develop goalkeepers through their shared experiences at a young age, not of a dated ex-player sharing knowledge of the game way above the levels which the players are currently at.

This isn’t an award, certificate, qualification or paid position. This is a voluntary role for all those who are thinking about becoming a goalkeeper coach at some point in the future and may want to set their own Creative Keepers goalkeeper school up outside Chorley or Blackburn areas! If are interested in this programme fill out the link below and we will get back to you!
